The merger on 2 April 2002 between L. Jørgensens Turistbusser A/S and Centrum Turist created Denmark’s second-largest touring coach business by uniting the values of two well-established companies steeped in tradition, resulting in a company capable of solving all tasks within coach and bus transport and travel. Both merged companies go back many years.

L. Jørgensen Turistbusser A/S
The L. Jørgensens Turistbusser coach operator was established in 1920 by Laurits Jørgensen. The present owners, Mikael, Martin and Mads Jørgensen, are the fourth generation in the firm, which was managed for 30 years by their father in Ryomgaard in Djursland, Denmark, under the name ‘de graa busser’. Since their takeover of the firm on 1 March 2001, the Jørgensen brothers have implemented a comprehensive renewal of the coach fleet.
Lars M. Petersen was the second generation in the firm, which was established by his father, Andreas Pedersen, just after World War II. From 1946 until his son’s takeover at the end of the 1960s, Andreas Petersen only engaged in transporting tourists and owned five-six touring coaches. In 1974, after Lars and Tove Petersen took over the firm, its name changed to Centrum Turist, and the coach fleet was quickly expanded. A funny aspect to the story is the fact that Andreas Petersen started out as a driver with Laurits Jørgensen before World War II.
